Areas of Support
Pre-release
We provide one-to-one mentoring, focusing on early intervention to reduce offending and help prevent custodial sentences.
In addition, we offer tailored support plans for young people identified by the police as being at risk.
We accompany individuals to court or parish hall enquiries, write references and assist with communications with lawyers and other agencies.
For first time convictions we prepare them what to expect at court.
During Sentence
While serving their sentence we support these individuals in different ways.
1 to 1 weekly check ins. This is an opportunity for individuals to vent, process what is going on and share concerns.
As we approach the end of their sentence we work with the individuals on plans for release, their goals and the steps they need to take to achieve them. This work can branch into other areas such as confidence and if applicable restorative justice.
We work alongside the Prison Reintegration Team and Probation using the 7 Pathways. This will ensure a joined up approach across all services.
7 Pathways to Reduce Reoffending
HMP La Moye uses the Norwegian 7 Pathways model which demonstrates when given the right tools and support, ex-prisoners can transform their lives. It is a structured approach that supports growth, wellbeing, and reduces reoffending.
Post-release
Post-release can feel overwhelming, which is why preparation and immediate access to support are essential. We adopt the 7 Pathways model alongside personal goals set by each individual to create a tailored post-release support plan before release.
This process is collaborative—individuals share openly about their progress, helping us understand their needs and work closely with Probation, housing providers, and other support services to ensure the right help is in place. Every person is unique, so our support is always personalised.
In practice, this can mean accompanying someone to Probation meetings, job interviews, or appointments with local services. It might involve helping with housing applications through the Andium Homes Partnership Pathway Scheme, navigating Government websites, managing finances, creating CVs, applying for jobs, or accessing education.
Sometimes, it’s simply about being there to listen—giving space to process the realities of life after release.
Change takes time…
We believe change is a continual process which involves mistakes and blunders. Following the stages of change model we believe relapse can be part of the process of change. We are not quick to let people go or give up. We believe each person has capacity to live a fulfilled and purposeful life.
